WS_FTP LE is a free FTP client that we recommend
using. It does not do too much, hence not very confusing to use. You
can find a link to download this software
here. Before you can
start uploading files, you need to setup the client first.
Setup Instructions
New
Profile Name: ResponsiveWeb FTP
Host Name: ftp.yourdomain.com OR ftp.responsiveweb.com
User ID: username
Password: password
Uploading to your web site
Click on the "Connect" button (bottom of window), select the "ResponsiveWeb
FTP" profile and click "OK" to connect. Once you are connected, the
left screen is your local PC and the right screen is the remote server.
Locate the file(s) you want to upload on your remote PC. Then, select
the proper directory on the remote server. Click on "->"
to upload the file from your local PC to the remote server.
Which directory to upload to?
IMPORTANT! If you are uploading
a CGI file, upload it into the www.yourdomain.com.cgi
or the cgi-bin directory. Upload ALL other
files into the www.yourdomain.com.html
or the html directory. If you do not
select the proper directory, you will not see these files in your web
site!
ASCII and Binary Format
IMPORTANT! If you are uploading
text files, i.e. HTML, files, Perl (CGI) scripts, manually select the
ASCII format. For other picture file types, e.g. GIF, JPG, select the
Binary format (which is the default).
